Richie Sambora

I’m here at Oceanway for the next few days working with the great Richie Sambora on his next solo record. He’s a super cool guy and the music has been a blast to play. We have a great band with Curt Schneider, Rusty Anderson and Matt Rollings.

Scrapyard day

I did a session the other day for two film composers that exclusively consisted of me playing junk from a scrapyard they had gone to earlier that morning. There was all sorts of strange ducts, tubes, plates, silverware, machines and who knows what. But my favorite of the day was this typewriter. We got the coolest sounds and loops out of this thing. It was amazing.

Jimmy Kimmel tonight

I’ll be on the Jimmy Kimmel show tonight (thurs) playing with Gabe Dixon and Dan Wilson. Should be really good.

I will drum for you in my underwear!

So I officially have my own studio now. I have been playing on people’s songs and various TV and Film stuff here for the last 6 months but have been working on the sounds, buying gear, etc. I feel really great about how things are sounding now and would like to invite anyone who is interested in having me play on something to contact me.

If you have any questions about my rate, what gear I’m using or whatever just ask. We’ll work it out. I hope to make some new friends

Regina Spektor

Last week, I started working on a new album for Regina Spektor with Mike Elizondo producing. Dang, she is completely the real deal. Such a sweet person with such heartfelt songs. And interesting too. I really had a great tim and I’m looking forward to doing more. Here’s a shot of the marimba I played on one of the tracks. It barely fit through the door

Sugarland

I’m back in New York. This time it’s to do a record for Sugarland with Byron Gallimore producing, and I gotta say, I love these people. Some of the nicest folks, and crazy talented. Today we tracked a song with horns featuring Lenny Pickett, one of my heroes. Check out the video.

John Legend

I’m at Henson Studios today working with John Legend and Patrick Warren. They are co-producing a dong for a great UK singer Pixie Lott. John is playing piano, Tim Young on guitar and Dave Piltch on bass. Very cool day!

Live show tonight!
